STiLL LiFE PAiNTiNG WORKSHOP

SUNDAY SEPT 18 1.00PM - 3.30PM

  • 75 Australian dollars
  • The Pencil Case Art Studio

Service Description

Since the Middle Ages, artists have sketched and painted everyday inanimate objects known as Still Life as a means of experimenting with various elements of art, e.g., shape, form, colour, value and texture. I have designed this workshop to be fun and achievable. You will, however, learn practical, transferrable skills and leave the workshop with a painting on board that is not only ready to hang but worthy of displaying on your wall at home! You will also leave feeling confident that you now have some basic skills to allow further exploration of painting. I have spaces available for 10 people to join me at the studio, which is located in the Armadale Hills area, approximately 45 minutes from Perth’s city centre. For privacy reasons, the exact address will be provided after your payment is received. Alternatively, get a group of 5-10 people together and I’ll come to you! Please note, this option will incur a travel cost of $25.00 for me to bring the workshop to you, anywhere in the metro area. All I need from you is a table that will seat all participants. For this option, please email me directly - anne@thepencilcaseartstudio.com. What to Expect? No experience necessary, all tools and materials supplied. This is a class for adults, but is suitable for ages 16 and over. You will be introduced (or perhaps reacquainted) to basic painting techniques using acrylic paints. Working with a classic still life subject matter (fruit bowl), I will guide you through composition and drawing your design and then painting a successful piece by utilising techniques of basic colour theory, value (light and shadow). A protective apron will be provided for the duration of the workshop, but painting can get messy, so I suggest wearing something you’re not super precious about. A toilet and bathroom are easily accessible and tea, coffee and light refreshments will be provided, however, feel free to bring your own snacks etc.
